We recently caught up with Alison Renfro, the newest member of the Product Owner team. Since joining the RevUnit family in December, she has injected the team with her infectious personality.

TELL US ABOUT THE PATH THAT LED YOU TO REVUNIT.
Well, it’s really quite interesting actually. I feel like this opportunity sort of fell into my lap at the perfect time. I was working for a company in Fayetteville, and had recently done a side-project that took on a lot of similarities to that of a product owner. When that project ended, I knew that becoming a product owner was something that I really wanted to do. Within the next week, the job post was listed for the junior product owner, and someone recommended that I apply. RevUnit has always sparked my interest because I think that it is a company that’s really going somewhere, and doing so in an incredible way. So, I applied and interviewed and it felt like a perfect fit like they were already my family!
CAN YOU WALK US THROUGH A TYPICAL DAY AT WORK FOR YOU?
Sure! Right now I am trying to get my feet planted (if you haven’t caught on, I’m the newbie) as much as possible. We are working on a release of an update for an app, so I’ve been able to touch on a lot of different aspects. Recently, I have been working on getting things organized on the administrative side, learning as much as I can about the different roles at play in creating an app, as well as focusing on user feedback and some quality assurance/testing. It honestly varies daily, depending on what needs there are, but I am really enjoying it so far!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT OF BEING A JUNIOR PRODUCT OWNER?
I love to learn. I have joked with my family and friends that I felt like I would be a perpetual student because learning is something that I’ve always been really good at. This role presents the opportunity to do so on a constant basis. I’ve been given a lot of wonderful insight into different aspects of the company – development, creative, marketing, and working with large businesses. The best part about it is that these things are constantly changing, offering new learnings on a continual basis.
WHICH REVUNIT VALUE DO YOU MOST REPRESENT?
I think the value of “I’ve got your back, you’ve got mine” is something that I have tried to implement in my own life for years. I find this value so very important in so many aspects of life. You can make leaps and bounds if you are able to trust and be trusted by those who you surround yourself by.
IN WORK OR LIFE, WHAT’S THE BIGGEST RISK YOU HAVE EVER TAKEN?
Probably when I moved cross-country at 18. I packed up everything my little 2-door car could hold, and moved from Colorado to Arkansas!
YOU’RE ON A TRIVIA GAME SHOW WITH ONE LIFELINE. WHO AT REVUNIT WOULD YOU CALL AND WHY?
Oh gosh.. this one is tough. I’d probably have to pick Michael, as he’s the only other person in the office who has watched/obsessed over Making a Murderer (so obviously I am able to trust his judgment). Haha!
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT OUTSIDE OF WORK?
Right now I am trying to finish up school, so outside of work that is my main focus. I will be graduating in May with a BS in Organizational Management from JBU! It’s going to be a really exciting time. Other than school, I have been really into listening to podcasts lately. Which, yes, I know seems incredibly lame, but I am loving them!
WE’VE HEARD THAT YOU ARE AN AVID BAKER, WHAT IS YOUR SPECIALTY? WILL YOU SHARE WITH US?
Alright, here’s the deal: I LOVE to bake, but sometimes I burn things. And by sometimes I mean about 40% of the time. When I’m not trying to set my oven on fire, I can make a pretty mean oatmeal chocolate chip cookie (my personal favorite), lemon bars and cookie truffles. If I know when your birthday is, you better believe you’ll be getting something sweet!
